How we edit a photograph

A photograph of a rental, a hotel room or a property for sale makes a promise to the person who looks at it. The more closely the photograph matches the place, the more reliably that promise is kept.

For that reason the scope of our work is deliberately limited. We improve how the place is seen. We do not change what the place is. Each correction described below serves the first aim, and each limit serves the second.

Because the scope is narrow, it is also easy to state, to apply consistently and to verify. Every image is held to the same standard, whatever the property.

A property photograph is made to show a place accurately and clearly. We edit each photograph, and our work is limited to the technical qualities of the image that affect how well it does that. Each one is described here in plain terms.

We correct light, colour, sharpness and straight lines. Together they keep the photograph faithful to the room it shows.

Where the scene contains temporary clutter, we may remove it. The purpose is the same as the other corrections: to present the place as it is, without distraction. Clutter that is temporary is not part of the place, so removing it does not change what the place is.

The standard rests on a single principle. Nothing is added and nothing is hidden. The photograph must match the real place.

A guest, a tenant or a buyer who arrives at the property should find what the photograph showed. That expectation is what we protect, and it is the test we apply to every edit.
